Chris Cheng receives the CBCA's Lady Cutler Award

e:lit congratulates children’s author Chris Cheng, the 2009 recipient of The Lady Cutler Award. This is an annual award presented by the NSW Branch of the Children’s Book Council of Australia for Distinguished Service to Children’s Literature, the accent being on Service.
Chris is a great advocate for Australian children’s literature. For five years he has been involved in a voluntary capacity in the Federal Government’s National Literacy and Numeracy Week campaign. He has also been Co-regional Advisor (with Susanne Gervay) for the Australian and New Zealand chapter of the Society of Book Writers and Illustrators. Chris is always a willing, enthusiastic participant in NSW Branch of the CBCA events, whether it is a Book Week lunch, a Masterclass Writing Workshop, or being a guest speaker, he gives generously of his time and considerable talents.
