One of the great new programs on ABC3, ABC TV’s new digital free to air channel will be My Place, a 13 part half hour historical drama for kids. Based on the award-winning book by Nadia Wheatley and Donna Rawlins, it is a captivating series telling the story of one house in South Sydney as told by the children who have lived there for over 130 years. It will air on ABC3 from the launch of the channel on 4 December 2009. It will be screened again on ABC1 in 2010.
An interactive website for teachers and a teacher forum are being developed by Curriculum Corporation and The Learning Federation in partnership with the Australian Children’s Television Foundation to provide a rich educational resource to support and engage teachers (and their students) as they explore the curriculum content of the series.
e:lit is planning professional development workshops in 2010 to help teachers make the most of the rich resources available to support teaching and learning based on the series.
